FIFA 22: Title Update 9 finally removes Russian teams

Title Update 9 for FIFA 22 finally follows the words of EA SPORTS after more than a month: The Russian teams will be removed.

The developer announced on March 2 that they wanted to remove all Russian teams from FIFA 22. This measure affects the Russian national team and the three Moscow clubs CSKA, Lokomotiv and Spartak. In view of the political explosiveness of this topic, most fans expected EA SPORTS to act quickly-but in Vancouver they took their time. A month passed without the ban being implemented or even any communication in this regard. On the night of Wednesday (April 13th), EA SPORTS finally announced the removal as part of Title Update 9.

The patch will probably be released for PC users on Wednesday, console players will have to wait a few more days as usual. Then the announcement will be a month and a half ago - but better late than never. The other adjustments in Title Update 9 are heavily overshadowed by the end for the Russian teams: The goalkeeper controlled by the player rarely let go of the ball, which meant that the game could not continue correctly. This bug will be fixed, moreover EA SPORTS hasn't worked on the gameplay. FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT) still receives three changes.

Packs were sometimes opened in the order they were received - not in the order specified by the player. The ping display in the match lobby sometimes displayed incorrect information, including up to nine-digit numbers. Finally, some placeholder images were rendered in FUT 22 instead of the intended assets. In general, various visual and audio updates have been made to the CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana competitions, as well as changes to the usual player faces, jerseys, trophies, logos, broadcast packages and more.

The removal of the Russian teams from FIFA 22 comes with further adjustments in Career mode, Pro Clubs mode and Kick-off mode. In the future, the setting for the favorite club will automatically fall on Paris Saint-Germain if "Sbornaja" or a Russian capital club was previously selected - the same applies to the arena players. The Otkritie Bank Arena, home of Spartak Moscow, will also be removed. However, EA SPORTS limits it again at the end of the paragraph: The exclusion of the Russian teams and the further measures require an additional and not yet scheduled server update.

Russian teams will also no longer be available and displayed in career mode, at least for new saves. The teams will not compete in any competition, offers as the Russian national coach will no longer be received. In pro clubs, on the other hand, the choice of jersey falls on the PSG jersey instead of a Russian jersey, and the standard stadium is used instead of the Otkritie Bank Arena. Russian-related stadium items will also be removed.
